Vitamin K is a primary element in blood clotting. It is also a contributor to the
calcification of bone; it is therefore important in the healing of bone fractures.
Vitamin K has also been linked to the retardation of certain types of tumors.

Vitamin K is widely available in all types of foods. The best sources of vitamin
K are vegetables and dairy products.

The U.S. Recommended Daily Allowance of Vitamin K is 80 micrograms
(0.8 milligrams) for men and 65 micrograms for women. Vitamin K has not
been shown to be toxic, although megadoses can cause skin irritation.
