Hair & Beauty Discussion:
  • Hair Health
It is essential to have good hair
to look beautiful. Good hair does
not mean just thick and long hair
    but means healthy hair.

There are three basic steps to
ensure the health of your hair:
    1) Cleansing
    2) Toning
    3) Conditioning

    Cleaning
Despite all the high-tech hair treatments available, washing remains the most crucial step in hair care and
it should be an essential routine in daily hair care. Regular hair cleaning washes away excess oil on hair
and removes dead skin and hair. Proper cleansing encourages healthy hair growth. Hair should be washed
with a good shampoo which does not have high chemical contents.
Don'ts: Don't over- shampoo, try doing it every other day. If you require daily washing, dilute shampoo
    with equal amount of water.

    Toning
As a healthy body needs regular exercise, hair needs regular exercise too. Toning of scalp and hair is
done by gentle massage of head with fingers, which helps in stimulating and invigorating the blood
circulation required for healthy hair growth. Always use good quality hair oil like olive, amla or coconut
based hair oils to gently massage your hair at least once in a week.
Don'ts: Don't use chemical based oil or any strong oil without consulting a hair specialist.

    Conditioning
This is the last but not the least part of daily hair care. Excessive cleansing, sun or use of harsh chemical
can excessively strip of natural moisture of the hair making your hair limp and lifeless. The conditioning is
required to restore and correct this imbalance. Conditioner should be used according to the physiology of
your hair. Conditioning should be done at least once in a week to add softness and shine to hair. To
maximize its effect, massage conditioner into dry hair, blow dry with a diffuser for five minutes, then rinse
    with plenty of water.

These are the basic steps for hair care but you should make some alteration according to your hair type.
Oily Hair looks lanky, dark and coarse. The excessive secretion from oil glands in the scalp traverses down
the hair shaft causing excessive oil on the scalp and hair.
The hair care of oily hair should be aimed to remove the excess oil and the dead skin cells which stick to
the scalp causing infection and hair loss. Oily hairs require frequent cleansing to remove excess oil and
dirt which very happily sticks because of excess oil. Ideally you should use a natural shampoo.
Don't use hair oil for massaging, instead use a good quality toning lotion.

Dry Hair looks limp, without bounce and breaks very easily. Dryness is caused by lack of oil secretion from
the sebaceous gland of the scalp. Hair looks thin and rough, becomes less elastic, looses bounce and
more susceptible to breakage and damage.
The hair care of dry hair should be aimed to replenish the oil and moisture of the hair. Regular massage
of your scalp with good quality hair oil along with regular conditioning will bring the life back to your hair.
Don't use strong shampoo for cleaning dry hair and avoid frequent shampooing. Never comb, brush or
massage if hairs are extremely dry.

Normal Hair does not require any specific changes in the hair care but it does not mean that you can
ignore the basic steps of regular cleansing, toning and conditioning of your hair.
